Popping a Pimple: Dancing Between “You Might” and “You Mustn’t”
Although you could be a rocket scientist to answer the following question will be just too difficult: “Is it in fact OK to pop your pimples or zits?” Even your grandma will have contradictory opinions. We all think at some time that popping the nasty “heads” is just perfect, and at some other time that this is quite not indicated. And so on! We believe that even the dermatologists have some problems in solving their personal quest when it comes about popping or not popping a zit!
Anyway, the truth seems to really be somewhere beyond us and you must confront this reality! And to return to our problem… It’s obvious that a stable unique answer could not have been found to the question. We will share with you just some of the most accepted opinions related to the famous question: “To pop or not to pop a zit?” Even Shakespeare would not have been able to answer it!
So, one of the most correct opinion is that saying that you may lance and gently squeeze the pimple that is at the surface of your skin and that is already white (, as it contains a lot of pus). This kind of pimple is believed of not leaving you with any kind of scars and lesions. You’ll immediately find out the entire and very important process of popping a pimple. But before that we must assure ourselves that we’re talking only about pimples or zits and not about serious skin lesions, such as cysts, for example. It is the dermatologist that you really must see for finding the most appropriate method for reducing the swelling, which may help prevent scarring.
So, the stages that you must follow step by step for correctly popping a pimple are the following:
1. First you have to take a warm bath for softening your skin. A warm shower would do it too, but a bath is even better!
2. Then you should wash your face once again and remove all the makeup.
3. You should necessarily then wash your hands too, for preventing spreading the germs and infecting the pimple.
4. Next you should sterilize a needle. You shouldn’t be scared, everything will work just fine, but this needle must really be well-sterilized, as a dirty one could lead to a serious infection and to an even bigger pimple, as well. So, sterilize the needle very well!
5. You should next take the sterilized needle and gently prick the tip of the pimple with it.
6. You should then take a clean disinfected tissue and wrap it around your index fingers.
7. And finally you should apply pressure to the sides of the pimples to ease the pus. You should step only when blood or clear fluid comes out.
It shouldn’t be so difficult to pop the pimples’ heads off! But you must pay attention not to proceed with dirty, un-disinfected fingers, because this would force bacteria into your pores and would cause another infection, leaving your with an even bigger bumpy pimple and with possible scaring.
On the other hand you shouldn’t try to pop a pimple that hasn’t been yet reached the surface of your skin. If the puss inside is not close enough to the surface of the skin, you would end up by squeezing the acne bacteria back down into your skin and would experience also pain.
So, you will know that you can start popping your pimple, when you’ve already seen the white pus under the skin’s surface.
Then you must be very careful about perfectly cleaning the area and your hands and about using only clean, sterilized instruments.
Trying to pop something that couldn’t be popped is sometimes worse than not doing anything at all about it. So, be careful and read these “instructions” once again before starting to pop!
