Vitamins, Vitamins, Vitamins!
We have also got used to our parents’ trying to convince us to eat our veggies. Even if you’ve already become grown ups, our grandmas or our mothers are still trying to make us eating the vegetables from our soup!
Like veggies or not, we should at least admit that our parents want us to be strong and healthy. Diet plays in important role in our lives and we should help our bodies through the food we eat so that it could be healthy and strong.
Although the recent studies haven’t reported that diet is not directly linked to acne, as you’ve said before, the stronger our bodies are, the less prone to acne we are. The healthy food we eat will immediately be noticed by our body and our (face) skin, our nails and hair will become even healthier than before.
So, according to the most recent studies, such as the one published in the “Journal of the American Medical Association”, you won’t get acne if you eat:
- Chocolate;
- French fries;
- Spices;
- And others.
However, this doesn’t mean that we are allowed to eat all kind of fat foods and sweets. These types of foods are not healthy and we and our bodies will eventually suffer the repercussions.
So, when talking about acne and foods, we should realize that diet represents in this case a means of prevention. The healthier our entire bodies will be, the stronger will be in fighting against acne. And the health of our bodies is being given also by the foods we eat.
So, why shouldn’t we eat tasty food and also help our bodies? Why shouldn’t we have a healthier skin without having to do so many difficult things, such as scrubbing, buying and applying all kind of creams and lotions and so on?
We’ll find out now which are the most important vitamins for your skin’s health as well as the foods that contain them. By eating the following foods you will help your body to be healthy and you’ll also therefore have a healthy skin. You will increase your chances in fighting against acne.
The vitamins and the foods the contain them are:
• Vitamin A.
Vitamin A is also known as Retinol or Beta-carotene.
When it is produced by plants is called Beta-carotene; the plants that produce it are yellow or orange. As you might have already guessed these plants are the carrots, the yams, the cantaloupe, the apricots, the oranges and others. However, there are also some green veggies that contain Beta-carotene, such as the kale, the spinach and the parsley.
In meat and animal-related products, the Retinol is found in fish oils, in liver and in dairy products.
You should be aware of the fact that in extremely high doses the Vitamin A becomes toxic for your body. Do not overdo it!
• Vitamin B2.
Vitamin B2 will be helpful in alleviating the stress, which is known for its negative capacity of aggravating the existing cases of acne.
The foods that contain a high concentration of vitamin B2 are the whole grains, the eggs, the fish, the milk, and all the leafy green vegetables and others.
• Vitamin B3.
Vitamin B3 improves the blood’s circulation from our bodies and this way it is promoting a healthier skin. It has also the capacity of reducing the blood’s cholesterol’s level and it also helps in metabolize the protein, sugar and fats from the food we eat; this way vitamin B3 helps us increase our energy through proper utilization of food.
Vitamin B3 is founds in the fallowing aliments: peanuts, avocados, eggs, liver and lean meats.
• Vitamin E.
Vitamin E represents a powerful antioxidant, as it protects our bodies’ cells against the negative effect of free radicals, which are otherwise potentially damaging by-products of our bodies’ metabolism.
It is found in peanuts, almonds, wheat germ, broccoli, sunflower seeds and vegetable oils.
• Zinc, which is a mineral.
Zinc is found in nuts, eggs, mushrooms and whole grains and others. The antioxidant zinc is known for boosting the immune system and this way improving the overall health.
Our bodies’ immune system’s health is also reflected in our skin. This is way zinc becomes an important factor related to acne and our skin’s health.
In the end, we should also tell you that since acne represents somehow a different skin disorder for everyone, people react uniquely to certain foods, which this way affect also acne’s development.
So, it is obvious that when you notice that certain foods cause flare-ups in your skin, you should avoid or stop eating them.
Secondly, you should also check your vitamin supplements for their iodine content, as iodine amounts greater than the RDA of 150 mcg may aggravate your acne. Still, normal amounts of this substance have not been shown till now to affect the skin or to provoke acne.
What Nourishes Me Also Destroys Me!
Any Angelina Jolie fans here? We bet there are some of we who really love Angelina! She has fans everywhere, even among acne suffers, doesn’t it? Still, Angelina doesn’t seam to suffer from acne, why have we remembered her here, within an article from a web site dedicated to acne?
It is because of one of here tattoos! If you are real fans, you should know that Angelina has a bunch of tattoos on her charming body. Furthermore, on the actress’ abdomen one could read the followings words, which Angelina has had tattooed years ago: “Quod me nutrit me destruit.”. The Latin phrase mean “What nourishes me also destroys me.” Ironically, or not, it is Angelina Jolie, one of the most beautiful women of our times and probably of all times, has had this phrase tattooed on her abdomen. The woman looks really good and she is one of the most successful actresses of the Hollywood. Still, it seems that despite this fact Angelina Jolie has always been aware of her human ephemeral existence.
***
So, what nourishes me also destroys me! This is true also for us, the common people that are no Angelina Jolie anyway! It is not our fault, this is how God or the “The Master of All Puppets” has allowed us to live. We pass through life as if we were on a journey. When we are still young the journey seems to be a long one, but in just years we realize how it is all in fact. Life’s short and death represents the most certain thing off all things on this world! It’s certain that someday we will day, so this way it is highly ironic the fact that every little step, every minute we live represents also a little step, a minute further towards death. This is why we should enjoy every bit of our live, it is the only live we have been given till now.
So, although it is true that what nourishes us also destroys us, we cannot and should not starve on this world. We have to taste a little bit from everything, to visit all the beautiful places we are able to, to spend time with beautiful and good people, to smile and laugh, to sleep and to work, because as Goethe has showed through its masterpiece (“Faust”) only working could offer us redemption.
Anyway, let’s return to acne and food. Let’s not become negativist or abstinent about our lives. We should only be careful to choose the right path in living our lives. Let’s not allow the small, unimportant things to get between us and a beautifully-live life. Let us be the masters, let us be brave and fight against all problems and disorders. Let’s help our bodies toughly support our big journey through live.
Don’t Eat That, You’ll Get Acneee!
It sounds familiar, doesn’t it? All these warnings related to the food we eat and the acne we’re gonna get…:
“Don’t eat chocolate, you’ll get zits!”
“Don’t eat pizza, you’ll get spots!”
“Don’t eat sweets, you’ll get acne!!!”
And so on.
But what should we eat after all? We can’t live with air, isn’t it? Still, diet is important and we should try to find out whether these common warnings really have something true in the middle or whether they represents just some of the other millions of wrong common beliefs that people have. Eventually, the acne sufferers should try to find out which is the relation between their skin disorder and the food they eat. There is actually a relation, but we must struggle to find out which exactly it is. And this way we will be able to use food and not to let it destroy our bodies and our faces’ skin. Food is great, but we should not look at it as a pleasure. Only the depressed, unhealthy people find in eating a real pleasure. This situation could be compared only to the strange, unrealistic case of a fellow that loves gas just because it represents his car’s fuel. Anyway, although this comparison is somehow extreme, the idea we want to express is that food should not be considered anything else but our bodies’ fuel. It is normal to fuel our bodies with the “gas” that suits them and they like, but we should never find in food something else than it really represents: a means of living.
Food could become our greatest enemy and this way it our bodies become prone to many illnesses, diseases and disorders, which include also acne. So, as we’ve said before it is all about the fact that unhealthy foods weaken our bodies, which this way become prone to acne among other health problems and not about chocolate or pizza’s inner effect in triggering acne.
In the next article you’re going to find out a little bit about the vitamins that are helpful in fighting acne (and in having a strong, healthy body) and about the foods that contain these vitamins.
Don’t become obsessive about healthy and not healthy food! Enjoy your live, but be able to control it so that we could really enjoy every bit of it, every moment without worrying about your health and even acne!
