Tip No. 5: Petting?! Some Other Time!
Maybe this will be more difficult than to stop you from squeezing or picking. At least squeezing and picking is painful and one doesn’t enjoy it too much, unless he or she is a little bit of a sadomasochist type of being. However, it comes to petting… things are different. Petting is different! Because we all love to touch our face, at least once a day. Unfortunately, despite its being different from squeezing and picking, petting represents the same danger for your skin as squeezing, for example.
So, no matter how difficult this may sound, you should keep your hands off the areas that are affected or prone to acne.
Propionibacterium acnes (the bacteria that cause breakouts) is a normal resident of your skin; it doesn’t lead to acne until it gets trapped inside the hair follicle.
Excessive touching of your face, including rubbing or even resting your chin in your hands, can drive these bacteria directly into your pores — where it can begin its dirty work.
So, hands off and less petting!
